Ava Vihar

Ava Vihar is a residential unit for adults and children with special needs. Those adult residents, who have no family of their own, stay in Ava Vihar on a permanent basis. Other residents are encouraged to go home with their families, during the holidays.

To assist in the rehabilitation, the residents attend the Day School or Vocational Training Programmes

60 beds are available to male and female residents. Children are admitted in the hostel above the age of 9 years and should ideally leave at the age of 18 years.

The children are given training in all skills of daily living by a housemother and her staff. This encourages them to be able to help themselves and inculcates in them a sense of well being and confidence.

We encourage families to stay in touch with them and take them home for festivals and holidays. On completion of training, the child goes back to live with the parents and within the community.

Families are encouraged to keep in touch with their children, and to take them home for holidays. On completion of the training programmes, the residents go back to live with their parents and integrate into community life, outside Raphael.
