Vocational Training

After completing Vocational Training the children are free to either seek employment in their local community, help in their family business or be employed either in the Rehabilitative Workshop or in the offices at Raphael.

The Workshop helps rehabilitate children and adults, producing candles, paper and fabric products.

Those in the age group of 16-18 years attend the vocational training programme. For the more severely disabled, the focus is on daily living and domestic skills. The more able students learn different vocations and may eventually move to the Rehabilitative Workshop or into a service.

To rehabilitate children of Day Centre and adult education programme on completion of their training/assessment, all production activities are centred under the Rehabilitative Workshop.

This approach provides some basic needs to the intellectually disabled community by giving them a sense of responsibility of doing a job, producing goods for sale for the larger community, working alongside their colleagues and earning a portion of their livelihood.

In addition it is a great respite programme for parents and guardians who have the peace of mind that their wards are in a safe and productive environment.
